My Heart → My wife

Over the past year, I’ve watched two partners learn to fall in love again, this time with their eyes open.
They’ve faced the quiet distance that can grow between even the closest hearts and found their way back. It was not through grand gestures, but through truth.

This poem was written in that rediscovery. It’s about the healing that begins when we stop performing strength and allow ourselves to be seen. When the mind steps aside long enough for the heart to speak, and reminds us: love was never gone, only waiting to be remembered.

It was an honor to hear my client’s expression of love to his wife…..and I wanted to share it with you, with his permission.

My heart fell in love with you
From the first time it saw you
It loved you so strong
I didn’t know why
I didn’t care why
I just knew
Time flew by
We faced challenges and hurdles
I wanted to succeed
So I followed my brain
And I drowned my heart
Why did I not cry
Why did I not scream
When I told myself
I wasn’t enough
You were not enough
Then one day
My heart came to life
And tried to speak
When it did
O my did it scream
It screamed the truth
That I was enough
And…
You were enough
But also that
The you I met
The you you are
Is all I would ever want

You were here all along
It was I who was lost…
