My Heart → My wife
Over the past year, I’ve watched two partners learn to fall in love again, this time with their eyes open.
They’ve faced the quiet distance that can grow between even the closest hearts and found their way back. It was not through grand gestures, but through truth.
This poem was written in that rediscovery. It’s about the healing that begins when we stop performing strength and allow ourselves to be seen. When the mind steps aside long enough for the heart to speak, and reminds us: love was never gone, only waiting to be remembered.
It was an honor to hear my client’s expression of love to his wife…..and I wanted to share it with you, with his permission.
My heart fell in love with youFrom the first time it saw youIt loved you so strong I didn’t know whyI didn’t care whyI just knewTime flew byWe faced challenges and hurdlesI wanted to succeedSo I followed my brainAnd I drowned my heartWhy did I not cryWhy did I not screamWhen I told myself I wasn’t enough You were not enough Then one dayMy heart came to lifeAnd tried to speakWhen it didO my did it screamIt screamed the truth That I was enough And…You were enoughBut also that The you I metThe you you are Is all I would ever want You were here all alongIt was I who was lost…
